What is it with me and trees?
First of all - you'll notice both my blogs have 'tree' in the title. Do I have a weird tree obsession?Yes. Not exactly. My name is Katrina but since I was younger my nickname has been Tri or Trihead (variations include Triborg, Katreetree, Christmas Tree etc.). This is probably largely to do with my height (am 6ft and was always the tallest in my school!) but I always liked it cause it was different to what you'd expect - probably a bit like me. Tall, a little shy, a little goofy, but very passionate and hopefully with a good dose of integrity and determination. I am conscientious, thoughtful, sensitive (sometimes too much of all of these) and love books and literature above all. Writing and reading have always been my thing. I love being creative so I am also into art, music (lyrics), design and... football! I live, breathe and play football! I am now in my early twenties and trying to influence the world in the areas I care about most.
What makes me different?
Everyone's different. I guess I've had a varied and unusual life, had to grow up very fast (did literally grow upwards fast) and it's all contributed to how I read things and how I think. I have been at boardings schools and lived in places as varied as Saudi Arabia, Libya, Milan and Canada. The act of reading has been scientifically shown to foster empathy and understanding and these are now deeply ingrained in my being, along with an appreciation of other cultures and ways of writing and thinking from all over the world. I like books that challenge me, that make me think, or that connect with my insecurities or thoughts (themes of mental health - depression/anxiety, growing up etc.).
